Ipswich: New councillor named after by-election

A NEW Ipswich Borough Councillor has been named today following a by-election in the town.
Liberal Democrat candidate Cathy French won the vote in the St Margaret’s ward by-election with a majority of 71 votes.
The turnout was 36pc and the poll was held after the resignation of Conservative councillor Sarah Stokes.
The overall political balance of the 48-member Council is now Labour with 28 seats, the Conservatives holding 15 and five Liberal Democrats.
