ONE person has been arrested at West Meadows on the outskirts of Ipswich tonight after police were called to reports of an incident involving guns.

A strong police presence, including armed officers, were sent to the site, which is opposite Asda in Goddard Road.

Officers received a call alerting them to the incident at around 6.50pm.

A Suffolk police spokesman said officers discovered no shots fired and no-one to be in possession of any weapons.

He said a 25-year-old man from Ipswich has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

The force called ambulance crews as a precaution.

The incident forced the closure of the westbound slip road onto the A14 until around 7.45pm.
