A sheltered car park in Ipswich town centre has been given approval to continue operating as a car park for a further 12 months.
A planning application had been submitted to Ipswich Borough Council by bosses of the warehouse in 5 Rose Lane, Ipswich, which has been operating as a temporary car park for up to 40 cars since 2007.
The application requested renewal of permission to continue operating as a covered car park for a further three years.
The application was put before Ipswich Borough Council’s planning and development committee yesterday morning, where the decision was made to approve the use as a car park for a further 12 months.
The report said that there is a need to redevelop the site, and that continued use beyond 12 months would “serve to discourage such redevelopment”, and added that “a one year permission would be appropriate”.
