A new gym set for Rosehill Retail Centre in Ipswich is set to open this month, as an additional unit which has been built has now been opened to the market.
The East of England Co-op announced a £4million expansion of the retail centre in July last year, confirming three new units would join the existing Aldi and Co-op stores.
The Aldi has already moved to an expanded unit, with Poundstretcher confirmed in August last year as filling the existing Aldi building.
In February, the Co-op confirmed Greggs and gym Fit4less would be the final two units on the site.
Now, it has emerged the gym will in fact be an énergie Fitness gym – another franchise owned by the same company which runs the Fit4less gyms, and is due to open at the end of the month.
Steve Rought-Whitta, head of property at énergie Fitness said: “We are delighted to have secured such a strong site for the brand new énergie Fitness gym in Ipswich.
“Complete with the other brands on the site, the Rosehill Retail Centre will provide plenty of exposure for the new gym.
“énergie Fitness Ipswich is scheduled to open in late-October and has already received a fantastic response and generated a significant amount of interest locally.”
The gym marks the latest addition to its existing 83 franchises, with the gym being only the second in the UK to introduce its high intensity playground, thé Yard.
The Co-op has also confirmed its existing food store will be reduced in size, allowing an extra retailer or restaurant to join in a unit between Poundstretcher and the Co-op.
The additional space has now gone onto the market and will be available on a new lease at the start of next year.
Nick Denny, joint chief executive for the East of England Co-op, said: “It’s a really exciting time for the Rosehill Retail Centre. Fenn Wright have been able to attract a complementary range of outlets to our scheme creating a vibrant location.
“Recently, Aldi has expanded its operation, Greggs has opened a new outlet and énergie Fitness are a very welcome addition, giving local residents and customers access to a great range of services.”
