HOLYWELLS High School in Ipswich will formally cease to exist on December 31.
However it will be reborn as the Ipswich Academy on the first day of the year as it becomes the town’s first state school to become independent of the local education authority.
The county council’s cabinet this afternoon formally agreed to the closure of the school to clear the way for its new era.
