Police believe two hooded men may have been responsible for breaking the windows of a town centre shopfront.

The damage was discovered early this morning after an alarm was triggered at Cash Converters in Northgate Street, Ipswich.

Police were called to the shop at 3.54am by the keyholder, who had arrived to find two front windows cracked.

Neither window had been shattered and no one had entered the shop but police searched the area for anyone acting suspiciously.

Two men wearing hooded tops had been spotted earlier, at about the time police suspect the damage was caused, between 3.35am and 3.40am.

The pair were seen leaving Carr Street on foot and turning into Northgate Street, where the incident happened.

Officers are unsure how the damage was done but think an unknown object was used.
