A FIRE at a derelict building site in Virginia Street, Ipswich, is believed to have been started deliberately.

The fire service was alerted at 7.36pm to a blaze in the open at the site and one appliance from Princes Street was mobilised.

The crew was there at 7.41pm and the incident was under control at 7.53pm.

The fire is believed to be suspicious and the police have been informed.
