IPSWICH ‘Sackers’ Witches travel to the Oaktree Arena in Somerset tonight for a tough looking League Cup clash against the Rebels.

Warmer temperatures forecast will be welcome after snow and bad weather in Suffolk yesterday caused last night’s clash against Plymouth, at Foxhall, to be postponed during the morning.

The Rebels are a strong looking side with a powerful Australian heat leader trio of Jason Doyle, Nick Morris and Josh Grajczonek and Witches team manager Pete Simmons knows the challenge ahead.

He said: “There is no doubt that it will be tough, but after dropping a few points against Rye House, in our two meetings against them last weekend, we really need to get something out of our trip tonight.

“It’s one of those tracks where we haven’t done too well in the past, but we must change that tonight if we intend to progress in this competition.

“Our boys desperately need more track time as they are struggling a little to get fit and the cold weather doesn’t help.

“More races is what they need so from that point of view last nights postponement wasn’t good”.

Somerset are also low on fixtures with only a two legged Easter challenge challenge against Plymouth behind them. They won at home comfortably, 54-38 and suffered a seven point away defeat.

Ipswich are in a four team Southern League Cup group alongside Somerset, Plymouth and Rye House and need to win the group if they are to progress to the latter stages.
