An Ipswich woman who denies pretending to be her mother to obtain a phone upgrade at the Three Mobile Store in Bury St Edmunds has accused a shop assistant of lying.
Giving evidence during her trial at Ipswich Crown Court today (Thursday) Charmaine Dockery denied using her mother Rona Dockery’s name when she went into the Three store in Bury St Edmunds and said an assistant who claimed she did wasn’t telling the truth.
Cross-examined by Stephen Mather, prosecuting, she claimed that she was telling the truth and that other witnesses in the case including her parents, a police officer and the shop assistant were all lying.
Dockery, 37, of Devonshire Road, Ipswich, has denied theft of an HSBC bank card and fraud in October 2015.
Dockery allegedly stole the HSBC card from her mother Rona Dockery’s handbag and used it to make withdrawals totalling £300.
When challenged about the missing bank card and money by her parents Dockery denied being responsible but allegedly said she would repay the money if they thought she’d taken it.
Giving evidence she said she loved her parents and would never steal from them.
