A young woman was assaulted and had her bag grabbed after refusing a teenager’s request for a cigarette.

The 24-year-old suffered minor injuries in the attack, which took place in an alleyway between Kerry Avenue and Kildare Avenue around 8.30pm last night.

She was approached by two teenage males, one of whom asked her for a cigarette.

The other is reported to have shouted abuse at her before they both tried to grab her handbag and assault her.

The woman clung onto the bag and the two teens ran off.

The first is described as white, around 15-years-old, between 5ft 2ins and 5ft 3ins tall, of a slim build.

He had short styled hair, was clean shaven and wearing a dark coloured top, black shoes and carrying a khaki coloured bag. He also had a diamond style stud in his right ear.

The second offender was reportedly white, of a similar age, around 5ft 8ins tall and of a slim build.

He had short dark blonde hair, was clean shaven, wearing a dark coloured top, black shoes, He was carrying a grey sports jacket with red stripes along the sleeve.
