HEARTTHROB pop sensation Ronan Keating will return to the region this summer to perform for racegoers as part of an ever-popular concert series.

It is hoped the Irish crooner will wow a crowd of nearly 20,000 when he sings at Newmarket's July Course on July 28 - a year after he dedicated a song to EADT columnist Rhona Damant at 2005's event.

Officials at the racecourse made the announcement yesterday - and described the line-up so far, which also boasts chart-toppers McFly, Westlife, Status Quo, Texas and Jools Holland, as “fantastic”.

“We are delighted that Ronan is coming back this year to add his musical weight to the already fantastic 2006 Newmarket Nights line-up,” said Gaynor Haxby, marketing manager.

“We now have just one more night of the seven-night series to confirm. We hope to be in a position to announce the act that will complete the 2006 line up later this week.”

The Newmarket Nights events combine evening racing with live music, and have proved highly popular over recent years.

Ronan fans have been advised to book early, with tickets priced from £11 to £32 and available through the box office on 08707 200 201. For more information, visit www.newmarketracecourses.co.uk
