TOMASZ Gollob believes the race for the World Championship is now a head-to-head between himself and compatriot Jarek Hampel.

Polish legend Gollob roared to a 24-point maximum as he dominated a spectacular Torun Grand Prix to take over from Hampel at the top of the standings.

Third place on the night kept the previous leader in touch, just three points behind, and there is then a 16-point gap to Kenneth Bjerre.

Gollob said: “I think I may be strong for the next six rounds of the GP. This year my dream is to be the World Champion. The 2010 World Champion will be Polish – me or Jarek.
