…and the winners of EA Week/BBC Radio Suffolk's Gardener of the Year 2006 are...
SUE Browne, from Somersham, has been crowned EA Week/BBC Radio Suffolk Gardener of the Year 2006.
The announcement was made on-air on Saturday at the recording studios in Ipswich when she and her fellow finalists met the judges of the annual contest on Rock 'n' Roll Rockery. She took home the Roy Lacey Rose Bowl as well as £100 in vouchers from Notcutts as the category winner in the New Garden Section.
Other winners were - Mature Garden of the Year: Jane Soanes with her Coddenham cottage garden, she also won £100 in vouchers from Notcutts; School Garden of the Year: Helmingham Primary School, who have won a nesting box, which converts to a feeding station with a camera, from Wigwam Webcam and Allotment of the Year: David Savage, from Ipswich, who has a plot at Castle Hill Allotments in Ipswich. He won £100 in vouchers from Sproughton Garden Machinery.
The judges were local expert Karen Kenny, Rob Dunger from BBC Radio Suffolk and Victoria Hawkins, editor of EA Week.
