THE FAMILY of a popular 16-year-old boy who was set for a career in the Army have described the support they have received following his death as “overwhelming”.
Macauley Clements, from Ixworth, died on Friday after the BMW he was travelling in was involved in a collision on the eastbound carriageway of the A14 at Bury St Edmunds the previous day.
His friend 19-year-old Adam Weller, from Weeting, who was driving the car, died at the scene.
Tributes have today been paid to Macauley, who was a student at Ixworth primary and middle schools and Thurston Community College, by his family.
His mother Maxine, 45, said she would remember how he was “always happy”.
“He was always such a happy child. Never moaning about anything. Everybody I have spoken to have just been on about how happy he was, how polite he was. If invited in ‘should I take my shoes off.’ So polite and always lit up the room when he came in.”
She wanted to thank everybody for their support. “It’s just been overwhelming, really,” she said.
