Take a look at who has been put behind bars over the last seven days- a drug dealer, a people smuggler and two men in their 20s involved in using “rambo-style” knives.
Patricia Ferreira
A woman who attempted to smuggle a family through a Harwich Port in a campervan has been jailed for two and a half years.
The sentencing of Patricia Ferreira, of no fixed address, took place at Chelmsford Crown Court this week after Ferreira, who admitted the people smuggling charge, failed to appear in court in November last year.
The charges related to an incident in February, 2016- where Portugese Ferreira, and co-conspirator Skelly Monpierre, tried to smuggle an Iraqi family inside a locked rear luggage compartment of a campervan into the country.
Sheldon William-Beaumont
Beaumont was found guilty of drug dealing offences and money laundering following a three-day trial at Ipswich Crown Court, and has been jailed for 30 months.
Beaumont was detained with possession of five £10 wraps of crack cocaine and £107 cash, after attempting to flee the park when police officers approached him.
Beaumont of Gordon Road, London, was arrested in suspicion of possession with intent to supply but pleaded not guilty.
Sgt Murray Osman, said: “He was an operator who has links to drug gangs from London and someone who was determined to sell on the streets of Ipswich bringing misery to resident and vulnerable people.”
Kieran Dwayne
21-year-old Dwayne has been sentenced to 12 months in jail, after brandishing a “Rambo-style” knife at his brother during an argument after taking a cocktail of drink and drugs.
Dwayne, of Victoria Terrace, Lowestoft, admitted threatening a person with a blade in a public place on August 9.
Witnesses described Dwayne as behaving extremely aggressively and getting out of his car as if he was going to attack someone.
Tahim Chowdhury
Two men were stabbed by Tahim Chowdhury with a “Rambo style” knife in Ipswich in 2016, resulting in one undergoing surgery.
Chowdhury, of no fixed address, admitted to unlawfully wounding Liam Smy and Anthony Wood back in October 2016.
21-year-old Chowdhury previously denied wounding the two men with intent to cause them grievous bodily harm and these pleas were accepted by the prosecution.
He was given a restraining order banning him from contact with the two men and was jailed for four years with a three year extended licence period.
