Jobcentre Plus has moved into Haverhill House, in Haverhill, to help further boost a “one stop shop” for services to the community of the town.

It has moved from its previous location in the High Street and with the move comes a new name.

Although exactly the same services will be offered to the customers of Jobcentre Plus visiting Haverhill House, the service has changed its name to DWP, an abbreviation of Department for Work and Pensions.

This co-location has strengthened ties between the council and DWP; leading to a more streamlined service for residents at the new site which also houses voluntary organisations along with Suffolk County Council, St Edmundsbury Borough Council and Anglia Revenues & Benefits.

Peter Carter, Jobcentre leader for Haverhill said: “I am pleased that the move to Haverhill House has been smooth for customers and staff. We are already seeing the benefits of providing customers with access to the full range of jobcentre and local authority services under the same roof. The ‘one stop shop’, is an improved experience for customers in a modern and welcoming environment, while proving cost effective for tax payer.”

Robert Everitt, St Edmundsbury Cabinet member for Families and Communities said: “I’m very pleased that DWP have joined us at Haverhill House, because increasing the range of services means we can help more customers with their queries under one roof, and where possible, at one time. St Edmundsbury has a made resilient families and communities a priority, and this example of fostering supportive networks is a good example of how we can help sustain the lives of local people.”
