Suffolk Poetry Society has celebrated its second all-day festival with a packed programme of workshops, performances and calligraphy demonstrations.
The event, held at the John Peel Centre in Stowmarket on May 30, featured quick-fire exercises from Aldeburgh Poetry Festival co-founder Michael Laskey, Villanelle poetry workshops by former Ipswich High School student Angela Locke, and a variety of performances from more than 30 of the society’s poets on subjects as varied as Thomas Gainsborough’s pocket watch, previous members and a railway rap.
Ian Griffiths, Suffolk Poetry Society chairman, said: “The poems were of an exemplary standard and demonstrated the vast range of creative and performing talent from poets in our region.”
