A frothy, foamy fundraising event is coming to west Suffolk for the first time this summer, and also returning to Ipswich.
Bubble Rush, which raises money for St Elizabeth Hospice, is launching a new event in Bury St Edmunds, and will also be returning to Ipswich. Both events will enable participants to take part in a 5k run, walk or dance.
The Bury event is sponsored by CurveMotion and will take place in Nowton Park on Sunday, July 29. It will offer non-competitive fun for the whole family and feature five bubble stations with cannons blasting coloured bubbles.
Taking part will help raise vital funds for Zest, part of the St Elizabeth Hospice family, which aims to help care for young adults in the region living with a progressive or terminal illness.
Josh Margereson is one of those who will benefit from the money raised by the Bury Bubble Rush. He said: “I may be a young adult with a serious illness, but I’m still a young adult who wants to do the same things that others my age do. I want to hang out with my friends and take part in activities that everyone else does and the money raised from Bubble Rush with help me do this.
“As well as that, I know that looking after me can be hard on my family sometimes, so it’s nice to be able to give them a break too. One of the big aims of Zest is to be able to provide short breaks for people like me, so that I can have some time being cared for my specialists but also give my family some time together without having to worry if I’m OK.”
The Ipswich event is in aid of St Elizabeth Hospice and will take place in Christchurch Park on Sunday, August 26.
Natalie Hill, events and challenges fundraiser at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “Bubble Rush has become an incredibly popular event for us and when one ends, we’re always asked when it will be returning.
“While everyone always has a lot of fun at Bubble Rush, the event does have a serious purpose. All the money raised from the purchase of event tickets and sponsorship will stay in the local area and come directly to the hospice, so that we can continue to offer all our services, free of charge, to local people living with a progressive or terminal illness.”
As part of the entry fee, everyone who takes part will receive a T-shirt to wear during the event and everyone who completes the course will also receive a participants’ medal.
