The jury in the trial of a former army cook accused of committing a string of sex offences while he was living in Colchester, Germany and Northern Ireland over a period of more than a decade is expected to retire to consider its verdicts tomorrow.

Before Ipswich Crown Court is Norman Maddox, formerly of Colchester, who has denied a string of offences including five offences of rape, five offences of indecent assault, five offences involving gross indecency and two offences of assault causing actual bodily harm.

The offences are alleged to have been committed between 1974 and 1988.

Judge Martyn Levett will sum up the case tomorrow (Tuesday) morning after which the jury is expected to retire to consider its verdicts.

During the trial it was alleged that Maddox punched one of his alleged victim’s in the face and knocked her out before raping her.

He had also allegedly raped and sexually assaulted another victim and sexually assaulted a third alleged victim.

The court heard that the alleged offences came to the attention of the police in July 2014.
