A pedestrian crossing fault at the A12 Martlesham Park & Ride roundabout could be to blame for reports of “standstill” traffic in the Martlesham and Kesgrave areas this morning.
Some motorists claimed they were stuck in traffic for up to 40 minutes in the Grange Farm area during the morning rush hour.
Adam Hutchinson wrote in the Kesgrave Community Group on Facebook: “If you’re wondering why the traffic is so bad today, it’s because the traffic lights at the park and ride continually think that a pedestrian is waiting to cross, so every few minutes they keep turning red.”
A Suffolk County Council spokesman said no reports had been made, but said highways engineers are being sent to the roundabout this morning to investigate any problems with the pedestrian crossing.
