A GANG of knife-wielding men forced their way into a house and threatened two residents.

Two men, aged 32 and 55, were asleep at the property, in Maidstone Road, Lowestoft, when they were woken up by the doorbell sounding.

The younger man got up to answer the door and was confronted by several men, aged in their late teens to mid-20s, who were wearing dark clothing and hooded tops.

The suspects then forced their way into the house and threatened both occupants with the knives before damaging the property.

Police are treating the crime, which happened at about 11.30pm on Friday, as aggravated burglary, although the intruders fled empty-handed.

It is thought there may have been other members of the group outside the property, including a female, and the suspects were last seen running along Maidstone Road in the direction of Selby Street.

The 55-year-old man was taken to hospital for checks, but neither man was injured.
