Knife-wielding man approaches 56-year-old woman demanding her bag in Colchester attempted robbery

A man threatened a woman with a knife in an attempted robbery in Colchester.

The woman, 56, who lives in Colchester, had got off a bus in Boxted Road and was walking towards St Pauls Hospital at about 7.20pm yesterday.

A man was walking behind her, overtook her and then stopped. He threatened her with a knife and told her to hand over her bag. The victim backed off and flagged down a passing car and the man ran off towards Mile End Road empty handed.

The man is described as white with stubble on his face, in his 30s, 5ft 10ins tall and was wearing a woollen hat and a navy waterproof jacket.
