Masked men brandishing knives robbed a Co-op store in Braintree last night.

Essex Police were called at around 10pm on Thursday, May 17, to reports of that three men had entered the Co-op, in Mountbatten Road, armed with knives.

A police spokesman said: “They were masked, and were wearing black clothes.

“One was carrying a yellow bag.

“They threatened people who were in the shop with the knives, before taking the money out of the till and safe, and running away.”

He added that the suspects got away with a three figure sum of cash, bottles of alcohol and cigarettes.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

The men are believed to be in their early 20s, of slim build and between 5ft 10ins and 5ft 11ins tall.

If you have information, please contact Dc Dave Glasgow at Braintree CID on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
