KING's Lynn's teak-tough racer Kozza Smith is desperate to feature in tonight's Premier League trip to Redcar (7.30pm).
Smith suffered muscle damage and a bruised hip in a heavy spill during Monday's televised Elite League defeat for Ipswich at Coventry but the 21-year-old is ready to race through the pain barrier.
Lynn's promotion have a guest on standby if Smith fails to win his latest fitness battle after only recently returning from broken arm, rib and shoulder injuries in a pre-season crash.
Smith was given the all-clear by hospital staff following his early Brandon retirement after being dragged into the air fence in a three bike pile-up.

“I haven't broken anything but I was in a lot of pain when I got home in the middle of the night so I thought it was best to go and get things checked out there and then,” he said.
“The ribs were hurting a little bit and I'd smashed up my hip but they just told me to rest and take it easy for a few days. The doctor at the track said it was muscle damage. They were going to give me pain killers but I said I'd be okay.

“I've got to be at Redcar. I've had too much time off already this season and I don't want anymore. I've definitely done something wrong or upset someone to have so much bad luck this season. I'm just hoping it will turn for me soon.”
Smith was still keen to watch his x-rated collision with Bees' rider Jordan Frampton and Ipswich team mate Dawid Stachyra during the Witches' 55-36 defeat.
The Aussie had to drag his bike around the track in an uncontested re-run to claim the points after both home racers were excluded and Stachyra ruled out through injury following the early carnage.
“I haven't seen any replays so I don't know exactly how it happened but my bike was totalled,” he said. “I just remember being hit and baling out. My helmet spun around and everything went pitch black so I was starting to think, 'where am I?'
“I'd made a decent start and I was on the outside but as I tried to cut back inside Frampton was flat out and just seemed to take off. He hit my team mate who went straight into me.
“I thought he might have broken his arm at first because he was screaming and in a lot of pain. With the Coventry guys excluded that just left me. I didn't have to go back out but I said I'd try to finish the meeting. I just couldn't do it. After the first corner I was rolling around the track.”
Smith is also keen to set the record straight on home shale in tomorrow's Saddlebow return against the Bears after a difficult seasonal re-appearance during Lynn's KO Cup quarter final, first leg win over Berwick last week.
“I was winning my first race when my fuel line broke and I ran out of gas. Then it went downhill from there,” he said. “I wasn't making any starts and I think my head went a bit but I was determined to get something out of my last ride. I made a start and just tried to sit in behind Schrammy (Chris Schramm). It was probably the hardest point I've ever earned in my career.”
