FIREFIGHTERS have tackled a large gorse fire near to St Felix School in Reydon.
For the second time this week, firefighters were sent to land near the school after receiving reports that a patch of gorse of about 200sqm was alight at about 10.30am.
Crews from Southwold and Halesworth attended the scene in Halesworth Road and used two hose reels and a jet to extinguish the blaze.
Staff and pupils from St Felix School were evacuated as a precaution but with the flames moving away from the site, they were soon allowed back inside.
The cause of the fire is now being investigated and crews remain at the scene to damp down the affected area.
