A popular dance – which took place in Sudbury throughout the 1960s and was revived in 2011 – will be staged for the last time this month.
The dance used to be staged in North Street car park and the idea to recreate the event and hold it indoors at the Delphi Centre was formed six years ago by a group of friends – now aged in their 60s.
More than £20,000 has been raised for various charities since the event was revived and many bands who performed at the event donated themselves free of charge or at a lower rate.
The original group, who recreated the event, consisted of Bonnie Foster, Neil Taylor, Don Brett, John Brooks, Maureen Owen, Melvyn Theobald and the late Freddie Lay and John Cobbold.
A contribution will be made to Macmillan in memory of Freddie Lay this year.
The dance enthusiasts say this will be the last event due to the fact that the group is getting smaller.
The very last car park dance will be held at the Delphi Centre on Saturday, December 16, and tickets are available at the tourist information centre in the library or by phoning 01787 377014.
