Laura's joy at award nomination

A SUFFOLK singing sensation has spoken of her delight at being nominated for an award at the Classical Brits.At the glittering launch event on Monday evening, Framlingham College sixth-former Laura Wright heard that she and other members of classical girl group All Angels had been nominated for best album at next month's ceremony.

At the glittering launch event on Monday evening, Framlingham College sixth-former Laura Wright heard that she and other members of classical girl group All Angels had been nominated for best album at next month's ceremony.

The award is voted for by the public and the phone lines open next Tuesday .

Laura said: “It is really exciting. There are such a great number of people up for this award. We don't know if we shall win, but just to be nominated is tremendous for us.”

They are up against nine other nominees including Sting's Songs From The Labyrinth, and Sir Paul McCartney's oratorio Ecce Cor Meum (Behold My Heart).

Other contenders include Kathryn Jenkins, Alfie Boe, Bryn Terfel and Nicola Benedetti.

As well as being nominated the girls - Laura, 16, and 17-year-olds Melanie Nakhla, Charlotte Ritchie, and Daisy Chute, will be the youngest girls to perform on the night.

Laura said: “I am not sure how it happened. We were just asked for and here we are.

“I have always dreamt of being a classical singer, but I never dreamed in a million years that we would sing at the Classical Brits.”
