Police investigating an alleged firearms incident in Suffolk have made two further arrests.

The move follows an incident in Leiston on May 30, when it was reported that gunshots had been heard in Old Foundry Place.

Detectives arrested a 25-year-old man in Ipswich, on suspicion of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent, in connection with the incident.

He was taken to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, and has now been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

A 17-year-old boy was also arrested in Ipswich today on suspicion of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent.

He was also taken into custody and questioned, and was released on bail until July 27.

Two people have already been charged in connection with the incident.

Jake Bristol, 46, of Valley Road in Leiston appeared at Ipswich Crown Court today for a plea and trial preparation hearing via video link.

He pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing a shotgun with intent to cause fear of violence on May 30, and dangerous driving on the same date.

His five day trial will take place on October 8. Bristol was remanded in custody.

Also before the court via a prison video link was a 16-year-old boy from Ipswich, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

He pleaded guilty to possessing a shotgun with others with intent to cause fear of violence on May 30. He was also remanded in custody.
