Leiston recorded a deserved and magnificent victory at Blue Square Premier Lewes.

The visitors showed their desire from the off and their early endeavour was rewarded in the 15th minute when a right wing cross from Stuart Boardley sailed over Banks in the home goal.

The 100 or so visiting supporters were delirious 15 minutes later with a fine second goal.

David Head's searching ball released Leiston's Lee McGlone and after Banks had saved his initial shot Luke Eagle fired home the loose ball From 10 yards.

Lewes threatened from set pieces and both Rowland and Cox headed straight at Jamie Stannard.

The tenacious Boardley received a yellow card for a crunching tackle on Rowland and from the resulting free-kick Keehan fired wide.

Leiston almost added a third on the stroke of half time following a fine run by McGlone who burst into the box and squared to Boardley whose scuffed shot was cleared off the line by Barness.

The visitors refused to relent and after Cox hooked a shot straight at Stannard, McGlone fired wide as did Judd Chenery.

The lively Cox toe-poked a Taylor cross into the side-netting, before on 59 minutes, the visitors claimed a superb third.

The outstanding Boardley cut across the edge of the box before unleashing a stinging drive into the top left-hand corner with Banks rooted to the spot.

Lewes gained a lifeline on 66 minutes when Stannard spilled Rowland left wing cross under pressure and substitute David Wheeler found the net via A deflection from eight yards.

But still the visitors refused to buckle and Blake Saker fired wide from the edge of the box.

Substitute Chris Sillett headed wide a Boardley free kick, before Lewes substitute Apps received his second yellow card in the 81st minute following crude challenges on McGlone.

Stannard saved low from Wheeler but Leiston were just too strong and easily saw out the five minutes of added time to send themselves into the first round proper of the FA Cup for the very first time in their history where they will face Fleetwood Town.

The tie will be played at Leiston on the weekend of November 8/9.
