An Olympic medallist shared some inspiring career stories and delivered a masterclass to members of a swimming club.
Nick Gillingham MBE, who represented GB in the breaststroke at three Olympics, winning silver in Seoul and bronze in Barcelona, spent time with swimmers of all ages and abilities at the leisure centre in Leiston.
The visit was organised by Leiston and District Swim Club head coach Matt Dye, who secured a community grant from the Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm project to help enhance activities.
Mr Dye said: “Nick liked the setup we have, and that we have good support. He gave a talk about his experiences and what he believes are the keys to success, before taking sessions with the junior and senior squad.”
The club has members aged five and up. It holds ‘learn to swim’ sessions on Sunday evenings and the squads train up to four times a week.
