Leiston: Rare white sparrow caught on camera
- Credit: Raymond Balls
This uncommon little character - an albino house sparrow - was spotted hopping around a garden in Suffolk by one of our keen-eyed contributors.
Raymond Balls managed to grab a couple of snaps when the bird landed outside his home in Leiston.
The white feathers are very rare and occur as a result of leucism - a condition that affects skin pigment but does not turn the eyes pink like albinism.
Swallows are one of the six families of bird most susceptible but still only make up 7% of reports.
A fascinating find worth sharing on our website. If you spot an unusual-looking member of the wildlife community, why not send us a photo? We might publish it online.
