Police are hunting an arsonist who set light to two boats with an estimated combined value in excess of £110,000 at a Suffolk marina.

The boats were in dry storage at Suffolk Yacht Harbour in Levington at the time of the blaze.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Constabulary said: “The two motor cruisers were in a yard there when it appears both may have been broken into and set on fire.

“Police are making enquiries into the incident and are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area during the afternoon as it is possible the fires may have smouldered before setting the vessels ablaze.”

The fire occurred at around 6pm to 7pm last Friday.

Officers are asking anyone who was in the area or has any information about who started the fires please to telephone Detective Constable Claire Andrews at Suffolk Coastal CID on 101 or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555111.
