A man died after being hit by a car close to roadworks on a country lane in west Suffolk this morning.

The incident happened on the B1063 at Lidgate, close to the village sign and the junction with the link road through to Upend.

Residents reported hearing the air ambulance arrive at the scene before 10am. The man died in a land ambulance en route to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

The Health and Safety Executive is investigating.

“The EAAA medics treated the patient alongside their EEAST colleagues to resuscitate the patient. The patient was taken by road to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of all those at the scene, the patient was declared deceased.”
