The A14 westbound between Needham Market and Bury St Edmunds is set to be shut overnight next week as part of a number of planned roadworks across the region.

Highways England has released details of projects due to be carried out in Suffolk and Essex between March 5-11, which are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Works include:

• A12 southbound, Marks Tey

Engineers will resurface a section of the A12 at junction 25 in Marks Tey between the slips roads will take place on March 5 between 8pm and 6am. Traffic will be diverted along the slip roads and re-join the A12 at the same junction.

• A12 northbound, Boreham

Resurfacing work will be carried out on junction 19 on the A12 at Boreham on the entry slip road on March 7 between 8pm and 6am. Entering traffic will be directed onto A12 southbound to turn around at junction 18, before continuing northbound. A section of the A138 link road will also be closed to facilitate this work.

• A12, Kelvedon South

Work to resurface the A12 junction 23 southbound entry and northbound exit slip roads at Kelvedon South will start on March 8 and will last for two nights between 8pm and 6am. Northbound traffic will be directed to turn around at junction 25 and exit at A12 southbound junction 24. Southbound traffic will be directed to join A12 northbound at junction 24 to turn around at junction 25.

• A12 northbound, Colchester

Resurfacing work along the A12 begins on March 5. The northbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 28 and 29 at Colchester on weeknights between 8pm and 6am until mid-March. A diversion will be in place via A1124, A133 Cymbeline Way and Cowdraw Avenue, and A1232 Ipswich Way.

• A12 northbound, Colchester

Safety improvement works along the A12 at the junction 29 Crown Interchange at Colchester will see the northbound carriageway closed on weeknights between 8pm and 6am. Drivers will be diverted via the exit and entry slip roads.

• A12, Oaks Bridge, Colchester

Safety repairs will be carried out on Oaks Bridge in Colchester, near junction 29, during weeknights between 8pm and 6am and will continue until late April. There will be lane closures on the A12, and temporary traffic lights beneath the bridge.

• A12, Suffolk/Essex

Lanes closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am throughout the week along the A12 between Ipswich and Brentwood as staff work to clear vegetation on verges.

• A12 and A120, Essex

Work to repair damaged safety barriers along the A12 and A120 in various locations continues during weeknights between 8pm to 6am. Single lane closures will be in place past the area being worked on.

• A14, Newmarket to Bury St Edmunds

Lane closures will be in place on the A14 between junctions 38 in Newmarket and 48 in Bury St Edmunds during weeknights between 8pm and 6am until March 15 due to vegetation clearance work.

• A14, Risby to Needham Market

Work to survey drains along verges and central reserves on the A14 between junctions 41 (Risby) and 51 (Needham Market) will be carried out between 9pm and 5am on weeknights until March 8. Single lane closures will be in place.

• A14, Needham Market to Bury St Edmunds

The A14 westbound will be shut between junction 51 at Needham Market and junction 43 at Bury St Edmunds on weeknights between 8pm and 6am due to carriageway repairs. A signed diversion will be in place via the A140 and A143. Drivers are urged to allow extra time for their journeys.

• A14 westbound, Levington to Orwell Bridge

Ongoing work to resurface the A14 between the Orwell Bridge and Levington will continue on weeknights between 9pm and 6am. The westbound carriageway will be closed during the week between junctions 59 and 57 with a signed diversion route via Felixstowe Road and High Road, through Trimley St Mary and Trimley St Martin and along the A1156.

• A120, Crown Bridge, Colchester

Structural repairs will be carried out on the Crown Bridge in Colchester near A12 junction 29 until late April on weeknights between 8pm and 6am. There will be closures and diversions in place.

• A120 eastbound, Braintree

The eastbound carriageway of the A120 in Braintree between Panners Interchange and Galleys Roundabout will be closed on weeknights between 8pm and 6am due to resurfacing. A signed diversion will be in place via the A131, A12 and A120.
