An ongoing project to resurface the A14 between Felixstowe and the Orwell Bridge is among the planned roadworks set to impact drivers in the region this week.

Highways England has released details of schemes it is carrying out between March 12-18, but bosses warn these are subject change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Work to repair the A14 westbound between the Needham Market and Thetford turnoffs will also continue this week, with overnight road closures in place.

• A11 between Newmarket and Barton Mills

A project to resurface sections of the A11 between the A14 junction 38 for Newmarket and A11 Five Ways roundabout in Barton Mills starts on Monday, March 12 and will finish on Saturday, March 24. Work will take place on weeknights from 8pm to 6am. A full northbound closure of the A11, between junction 38 of the A14, and Five Ways roundabout, will be in place during the first nine nights of work. On Friday, March 23 the A11 southbound will be shut between the Five Ways roundabout and Red Lodge interchange.

• A12 Colchester

The northbound carriageway of the A12 will be closed between junctions 27 and 28 and then between 28 and 29 at Colchester on weeknights between 8pm and 6am until mid-March due to resurfacing work. A diversion will be in place via A1124, A133 Cymbeline Way and Cowdraw Avenue, and A1232 Ipswich Way.

• A12 Colchester

The A12 junction 29 eastbound exit slip road onto the A120 at Colchester will be closed on weeknights this week between 8pm and 6am while safety work is carried out. A diversion will be in place via A12 junction 30.

• A12 Oaks Bridge, Colchester

Repairs on Colchester’s Oaks Bridge will continue this week until late April. Work will take place on weeknights between 8pm and 6am. There will be lane closures on the A12, and temporary traffic lights beneath the bridge.

• A12 and A120 Essex

Work to repair damaged safety barriers along the A12 and A120 in various locations continues this week, with working hours of 8pm to 6am, weeknights only. Single lane closures will be in place.

• A14 Bury St Edmunds

Work to survey the road surface on the A14 eastbound at junctions 43 and 44 at Bury St Edmunds starts on Monday, March 12 and will last for five nights. Single lane closures will be in place, with traffic diverted westbound to the next available junction before being turned around to continue on the A14 eastbound.

• A14 between Needham Market and Thetford

Repairs to the A14 westbound between the Needham Market and Thetford turnoffs will continue this week. The carriageway will be closed between junctions 51 to 43 on weeknights between 8pm and 6am. A diversion route will be in place via the A140 and A143. Drivers are advised to leave extra time for their journeys.

• A14 Felixstowe

Resurfacing work to the A14 between the Orwell Bridge and Levington is being carried out in sections between 8pm and 6am on weeknights. This week the westbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 59 for the Trimleys and 57 for Nacton, with a diversion route via Felixstowe Road and High Road, through Trimley St Mary and Trimley St Martin and along the A1156.

• A120 Crown Bridge, Colchester

Work to improve the safety of Colchester’s Crown Bridge near A12 junction 29 will go on until late April on weeknights between 8pm and 6am. The north and south side of the bridge will be fully closed at separate times, with signed diversions in place.
