EXPLOSIVE experts have been called to the Suffolk coast after live flares were discovered.
Coastguards were called by the National Trust warden at Orford Ness at 1.20pm yesterday after a number of distress and smoke flares were washed up near the lighthouse.
The Aldeburgh coastguard team confirmed the flares were live and the explosive ordnance disposal team from RAF Wittering was called in.
The team then carried out a controlled explosion of the flares.
