Forecasters believe the worst of the storm is over however a number of fallen trees are blocking roads in both Suffolk and north Essex.

Motorists are also being warned that there is a small possibility the Orwell Bridge on the A14 near Ipswich may close later on this morning.

In an update at around 6am today Highways England chiefs said it is unlikely the bridge will shut – but teams are monitoring the situation and if wind speeds increase it could close later in the day.

Last night lorry drivers, motorcyclists and those travelling with caravans were encouraged to avoid the bridge altogether.

Greater Anglia bosses said the driver of the 5.21am Witham to Braintree service reported a tree obstructing overhead wires near Witham.

At the moment, trains are unable to run past the obstruction – this train and the 5.43am Braintree to Witham departure are the first to be cancelled.
