A landslip has cancelled north Essex train services for the second time in just weeks.

Greater Anglia announced this afternoon its services between Colchester and Thorpe-le-Soken would be cancelled “until further notice”.

“Owing to a land slip between Alresford and Great Bentley all lines are currently blocked,” a spokesman said.

“We are currently trying to resource Rail Replacement busses to operate between Colchester and Thorpe Le Soken. Expected time of arrival will be given when known.

“We apologise for the disruption to your train services.”

Greater Anglia added staff were doing “their very utmost to ensure commuters can get home this evening”.

It comes less than a fortnight after a landslip in the same area caused days of disruption for rail travellers.
