A Londoner has been arrested in north-east Essex after police found what are believed to be cannabis plants in his car.
Officers stopped the driver of a silver Vauxhall Zafira in Oxford Road, Clacton-on-Sea around 9.30am on February 20 for failing to have a valid MOT.
A strong smell of cannabis led to a search of the car and what is believed to be 40 small cannabis plants were found.
The driver, a 37-year-old man from Dagenham, East London, was arrested on suspicion of producing a Class B drug, possessing a Class B drug, possession of an offensive weapon and drug driving.
He has been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.
