A woman in her 30s has been airlifted to hospital after it is understood she was kicked by a horse in Long Melford today.

Dr Jenny Townsend and critical care paramedic Carl Smith were flown to the remote location aboard the East Anglian Air Ambulance Anglia One, landing just after 12.30pm.

The team treated the woman at the scene before she was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said they were called at 11.05am to two women believed to be in their 30s, one with neck injuries and the other with chest injuries.

She said the ambulance service’s heart team also attended due to the remote location.

The woman who did not get airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital was taken to West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds by land ambulance.

The Anglia One pilot was Captain Neil Waller.
