Trains delayed after lorry crashes into Needham Market bridge

Train lines through Needham Market have been delayed after a lorry struck a bridge near Needham Lake.

Rail services through the town have been cancelled, delayed or revised following the collision in Coddenham Road, which has affected lines to Ipswich, Norwich, London and Cambridge.

All train services through the town were initially stopped, but have since reopened after the bridge was assessed by engineers from Network Rail.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said no one had been injured in the crash

She said: “We were called just after 3.50pm today following reports of a collision at Needham Lake, Coddenham Road.

The collision happened at the railway bridge.

“Assessments are being made and Network Rail has been called.

“No one had been injured.”
