POLICE are appealing for information after a robbery in Lowestoft last night.

The incident took place at the Co-Op store in Westwood Avenue just before 10pm.

A man – described as of fat build, around 5ft 6ins – 5ft 8ins, wearing a large blue hooded jacket, black bottoms, black footwear, white gloves and a ski mask or similar over his face – forced open the doors at the front of the shop, entered the premises and threatened two female members of staff who were in the process of closing up.

He appeared to speak with a Liverpudlian accent.

He then picked up two leather cash bags, containing money, from the shop counter and fled.

No weapons were seen during the incident and no one was hurt.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area around 10pm last night to come forward if they saw anything suspicious and officers are also keen to hear from anyone who may have information about the robber.
