A 60-year-old man who downloaded child porn has been warned he is likely to receive a prison sentence when he is sentenced next month.
Before Ipswich Crown Court today (Wednesday, November 8) was Mervyn Lockyer who admitted three offences of making indecent images of children in March this year.
He also admitted three offences of distributing indecent images of children between January 2012 and December last year and one offence of attempting to cause or incite a child under-13 to engage in sexual activity.
Judge David Goodin agreed to adjourn sentencing until next month for a pre-sentence report to be prepared on Lockyer by the probation service.
“The offences which you have admitted are very serious offences which will in my judgement inevitably be met with a custodial sentence,” said the judge.
He said it would be up to the sentencing judge to decide if the sentence could be suspended to allow him to attend a sex offenders’ treatment programme in the community.
Lockyer, of June Avenue, Lowestoft, who has no previous convictions, was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register on an interim basis.
