A man who died after being pulled from the sea by rescue crews off Lowestoft has been named.

The man was 43-year-old Peter Chambers of Wellesley Road in Great Yarmouth. Police have been unable to trace his next of kin at this stage.

On Monday afternoon the coastguard, RNLI lifeboat crews, a police helicopter and an RAF search and rescue helicopter were called out after a man and an overturned boat were spotted in the sea near Ness Point.

The man’s body was pulled from the water by the Lowestoft lifeboat but, despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at 3pm.A major search and rescue operation was then launched after it was feared two further people had been on board the capsized boat and were still missing.Suffolk Police have said they are continuing enquiries into the incident off the coast of Lowestoft.Anyone who may have knowledge of any of Mr Chambers’ family members is asked to contact Steve Bignell, coroners officer, on 01986 835167.Enquiries are continuing into what happened on behalf of the coroner and police in Suffolk will continue to lead the investigation.It’s now known Mr Chambers left Great Yarmouth harbour on Monday morning for a fishing trip.The boat recovered from the water has been examined and the investigation is trying to determine what happened. Police have taken calls from people who reportedly saw the boat in rough seas between Gorleston and Lowestoft.Two men from the Great Yarmouth area have been reported as missing to Norfolk Police and enquiries are continuing to find them.One of the two men is in his 40s, the other in his late 70s.
