A 13-year-old school girl has lost her freedom and been left scared to go outside in the aftermath of a vicious and unprovoked attack, according to her mother.

The child suffered a concussion and whiplash following the attack in Field Lane, Kessingland, on Wednesday, February 13.

In a video shared with this newspaper a girl of a similar age is shown to repeatedly punch the girl in the head before throwing her to the ground and pulling her hair.

Footage of the assault will not be published as to protect the identity of the children involved.

The girl's mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, has now spoken of the impact the assault has had on her daughter.

She said: 'She is getting there but she still doesn't want to go out on her own.

'The pain has finally gone and the main headaches gone.'

The mother said her daughter experienced weeks of migraine-like headaches and would feel dizzy whenever bending down.

She added: 'She would just rather be in her bedroom.

'I'm annoyed that this girl has done this to her; it's hard to put into words.

'It's taken away her freedom really; it's frustrating.'

Suffolk Police continue to investigate the assault but no arrests have been made and the worried mother fears the attacker will simply get away with it.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said: 'A suspect has been identified and questioned. She continues to engage with police with regards to the incident.'

However, the girl's mother remains pessimistic about justice being served.

She explained the case had been referred to the youth offending team with a face-to-face apology or apology letter looking like the most likely outcome.

The mother said: 'I don't really know how it all works,; I don't know what sort of punishment you can hand out to teenagers,'

'They don't seem like a deterrent or a punishment; I can't see that stopping her doing what she is doing.

'I have seen videos from other parents showing her beating up other girls.

'She has got away with it really in my eyes.'
