A SHAKEN motorist has told of his disbelief that no-one died in a five-car accident on a notorious Suffolk road today.
Six people required treatment at Ipswich Hospital and an air ambulance was called after the crash on a 30mph stretch of the A140 at Brockford Street, near Mendlesham at lunchtime.
The road was closed to traffic by police all afternoon while scenes of crime officers photographed the area.
No-one suffered serious injury during the pile-up.
Garry Wilson, of Melton, near Woodbridge, who was returning from taking his daughter to a swimming gala in Norwich, said: βIt was pretty frightening. It has been absolutely amazing there has not been some serious injuries. It was very lucky nobody died. The airbags went off in my car and my wife and daughter are all right and have been taken home.β
The accident also involved a Red VW Polo, a grey Mazda T5 people carrier, a blue BMW and a Ford Focus.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call Pc Garry Heath on 01473 613500.
