Drivers are reminded to allow extra time for their journey during work to resurface and improve a further three miles of the M11 between Stump Cross (J9/A11) and Stansted (J8), Essex.

Drivers are reminded to allow extra time for their journey during work to resurface and improve a further three miles of the M11 between Stump Cross (J9/A11) and Stansted (J8), Essex.

Work starts from 6am on Monday 6 February and is due to take 12 weeks to complete.

Work will be carried out 24-hours a day on both carriageways of the M11 between Newport and Henham, from Monday to Saturday, with occasional Sunday working.

There will be a contraflow in operation with two-lanes provided in both directions during peak hours, using the hard shoulder. Off-peak there will be a contraflow in place with one lane in one direction and two lanes in the other direction.

A 40mph speed limit will be in place 24-hours a day, seven days a week, enforced with temporary safety cameras that will measure the average speed of vehicles passing through roadworks. This is to ensure the safety of drivers and road workers.

Drivers, especially those travelling to Stansted Airport, are advised to allow extra time for their journey.
