Horse rider in medical coma after accident in Suffolk

A woman was placed in an induced coma after being thrown from her horse in rural Suffolk.

The Magpas Air Ambulance flew to the woman’s aid after the accident which happened just after 12.30pm yesterday, to the east of Lavenham.

Magpas doctor David Leverton and paramedic Dan Cody assessed the patient, who is aged in her 30s and had suffered a “serious head injury”.

The medics placed the casualty in a medically induced coma to protect her injuries, before accompanying her by land ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

The horse rider was reported to be in a “serious but stable” condition.

The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust and Suffolk Constabulary also attended.

The helicopter crew who flew the medical team were Pilot Steve Wood and Crewmember Lee Kennedy.
