A JURY has recorded a verdict of accidental death after a seven-year-old girl drowned in an Essex swimming pool.
Michelle Gellard died after being pulled unconscious from the water at Blackwater Leisure Centre in Maldon on June 14, 2008. She had suffered a mild head injury before she was taken out of the water.
At the conclusion of her inquest this afternoon, a jury recorded a verdict of accidental death.
A statement from the jury read: “The deceased was last seen alive on June 14, 2008, swimming in the direction of the slide. She was later found submerged in the deep end of the pool as a result of an accident.”
Following the verdict, the court expressed its sympathies to Michelle’s family.
