A DRIVER died today after her car was in collision with another car and a lorry.

The incident took place on the A414 Maldon Road in Maldon.

Police were called to a collision involving a silver Ford Fiesta, a white and green Scania tipper lorry and a black Renault Megane on the A414 Maldon Road at Maldon at 10.50am.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta, a 36-year-old woman from the Maldon area, was declared dead at the scene.

The lorry driver was uninjured and the driver of the Megane received minor injuries but did not need hospital treatment.

The road was closed for four and a half hours while officers carried out initial investigations.

The police have called for witnesses to contact them either through the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 or by emailing collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk
